Description
Another apology for the blurry sign, again will summarize here:
Franz Pulbaum was a machinist, travelling to New York from Paris on the Titanic. Boarding in Cherbourg, the money for his ticket was provided by his 21 year old brother who was living in the United States. He left behind his mother and younger brother in Germany. Franz was 27 and was going to study engineering in the United States and to become a citizen. With him was a signed declaration of intention where it stated his desire to live permanently in the United States. He had tools with him, probably to help earn him a living while attending school. He also brought a German to English dictionary, likely to help him learn the language of the new country. Several postcards were also with him, including the Paris souvenir postcard shown here.
His plans sadly were not fulfilled as he did not survive the Titanic.
