Description
The styles of tile varied across the Titanic based on what section you were in. The ones in the galley were more for practical design to prevent slipping. The faucet, available only in first class for the running water, was spring loaded to stop water flow when not in use to save precious water.

I saw an exhibit like this, maybe the same artefacts, in Toronto about 20 years ago. Even though the Titanic was promoted as offering “comfort for all classes,” the material design shows how rigidly Edwardian society separated people. The third class materials were plain and practical that were to be endured, not enjoyed.
Indeed, the treatment of the different classes were very noticeable, right down to the tiles!
