Description
We finally found that lake -- it was Lake Powell.
Again, no fences, no toll booths, no shops and nothing man-made -- only smooth, warm stone and crystal clear water. It was a day of swimming and relaxation without any crowds.
And that was the last big attraction of the entire trip. We returned the rental car and caught the next train home.

My God! What a trip you had! Thank god you had a camera to record it.
And I wish I had brought much more film, so I wouldn't have to constantly worry about running out.
I am so sorry but somewhere I am sure you have said where this all happen Nice photos
The locations are stamped on the photos:-)
This lake was at the north edge of Arizona.
Really like the first two images taken with an artists eye. - Bob
Thanks, Bob;-)
I was compelled to add the third one to add some life and sense of scale.
I half expect Charlton Heston to paddle ashore with his companions as his space craft vanishes below the waves. Hopefully he and his crew will keep clear of the corn fields ... great photos, the first is no doubt best, but I find the third most comforting ;)
LOL!
Your avatar change is a bit of a shock to my system and will take some time to adjust to;-)
And this lake was the most fascinating and user-friendly lake I ever touched. If I lived there I could spend an entire week (or month) exploring it with a kayak.
Oh, and speaking of spaceships --- did you notice those strange unnatural circles on that shore? Perhaps it was aliens that already landed there, not Mr. Heston:-)
There's no such thing as too much film.
What a beautiful place! And you got some great shots of it. I absolutely love that middle shot with that layered rock outcrop! That layering is just so fascinating!
What a great trip you had - I want to do something like that while we can still get around reasonably well.
I think it can still be done ... Just hop on the train and rent a car at various destinations. My concern today would be far bigger crowds, more fences, less access and higher cost. I would suggest going off season, like September or April.
It was a great trip you did. Thank you for having shared all this!
