Description
Next, we decided to check-out a less-known place: King's Canyon.
We hopped into our rented car and followed some signs to a road that kept getting scarier and scarier. Several miles later the road was literally carved out of a rock face with a steep drop about half a mile down. How they managed to build this road is beyond my comprehension.
Even stranger was that we never passed a single other car the entire day.
Just now I tried to find this same road on Google street maps, but failed. Was the road shut down because it was too dangerous?

Where there is a will. An amazing experience I'm sure.
It was also amazing that I didn't fly off the cliff and ended down at the bottom;-)
Cool photos. Great road if it's only one way. It look too thin for two way traffic. We have a similar road here that I like to drive on. - Bob
Oh, it was definitely a 2-way road ... I eventually turned around and went back out the same way before it got too dark.
Amazing!
Thanks, Blue:-)
Oh, these are the kind of places I love discovering! No one else around, and I'd fill up every camera card I own here! You certainly wouldn't want to do the heavy-foot thing on that road!
Beautiful photos, Max!
Thanks, Rod:-)
And I'd be nervous if anyone but me was behind the wheel ... lol.
I looked up Kings Canyon Rd and it's open, except for bad weather (like snow). - Bob
I looked closely at the area map again using 'street view', and this time I found a mountain similar to one in my photos, so this road could be the one on the very North side of the park ... but I still couldn't find these exact same spots, and everything looks so different now - more developed - much busier and very crowded. Also, many side roads have no street view at all ... so I'm still not sure of anything.
