based in Finnish-Karelian folk poetry,Kalevala was published 1835.Story of this painting is,Väinämöinen want to marry Aino, but Aino rather
run in to the lake than take Väinämöinen for her husband.( I tried to keep description short, more you can find for example Wikipedia or Google).

Great to see these tales illustrated; I attempted a series on the Kalevala myself a couple of years ago and its always fascinating to see other renditions, especially ones as good as this!
Thank you!
Torille. :D Vähän hieno.
Ehem, and that is how you summon fellow finns... Epicly awesome version on this famouns painting by Gallen-Kallela. Really well done. The painting has had some variations and besides that I like this one, I also like photomanipulation of one women's magasine where roles were reversed. Do you remember seeing that one?
Thank you! I haven´t see that reversed roles,i would like to.Link?
You'll about to.
