Description
It was late at night, or very early in the morning, really. The moon was full, and the strong winds chased clouds back and forth in front of it, making its light shift and change. Usually, the lanterns would be out, and everything in the village would be dark. But tonight was a festival night! All the villagers had been up late, and the lights were left on as part of the celebration. It was the perfect time for the brothers to do their mischief. With everyone sleeping hard after the eventful night, and plenty of light to see what they were doing, the small dragon siblings had no difficulty quietly prying the wooden bars off of a few of the house windows. Then, as silently as shadows, they crept inside the houses and easily found what they were looking for - gold! The village was not a wealthy one, but gold coins were often given as gifts to each other at the festival. These coins were exactly what the dragons were after. After collecting a few of them each, they left completely unseen, and flew with their treasures back to their home in the mountains.
But that wasn’t the end of the activities. In the coming weeks, the village warriors would gather together and sneak up to the dragons’ lairs. They would leave food in the entrances to the lairs, and while the dragons were distracted, they would creep in and steal the coins back. The cycle continued every year, a strange (but fairly harmless) game that the two parties had played for several generations!
