Thank you very much. I was trying to evoke a dusky or pre-dawn mood to elevate the tension. Add some mystery and uncertainty. Thank you for picking up on that. Your comments are much appreciated.

Thank you for your comment. I guess that's the point of a good mystery. Keep everyone guessing including the author of the piece. These soldiers may know who the enemy will be, but they are not yet in sight or visible. But on the other hand they might not have a clue about what to expect. All they know is something is coming, and it may or not be human. Hence the prayers to give them strength to face the unknown. 🤔
