Description
Nim knocked on Joanne’s door, and she let him in. He looked around nervously a moment.
“Is there something else you wanted or did you just want to see my room?”
“I’ve seen your room, well parts of it.” He took a deep breath. “I promised I’d show you the drawing the next time we spoke.” He held a hinged, wooden case with a leather handle.
“You were planning on bringing it with, weren’t you?”
He nodded. He opened the case. It held drawing stuff. A sheet of parchment fell out. Jo picked it up and looked at it as she gave it back to him. “That’s my parents and Chapado, my mentor.” He told her. He put the page back and pulled out another and handed it to her.
Jo was quite surprised by the picture. Not only was it a nude of her, but they were also in bed together. To be fair, a blanket covered them from the waist down. It was curious. His face was turned away from her, looking over his shoulder as if at the viewer. Perhaps it may have just been because of the angle he chose, almost directly from above. The position allowed the viewer to see at least part of his face. But, while she was clearly enjoying herself, he looked sad.
“You don’t like it,” he said and started to take the image back.
She pulled it out of his reach. “You just look so sad. Are you not enjoying yourself?”
“It’s a terrible picture. I should’ve never drawn it.” He reached for it again. She pulled away again.
“It’s a great picture. If you don’t like it, I’ll be happy to keep it. I just wish you weren’t so sad.”
“I’m not sad.”
“Look at those eyes. Tell me what you see?”
He sighed. “They look sad. That’s how my eyes look. I don’t know if they’d look different then.”
“Were you serious? You’re twelve hundred years old and never been with a woman?”
He nodded. “I told you, women are not attracted to me. You’re the first woman who has ever shown interest in me.”
“It’s their loss. Let’s find out how those eyes look when you are enjoying yourself.” She started to lead him to the bed.
