Description
Tor opened her eyes. It wouldn’t take long she felt. She could see the bond in there. It was very strong. She could also see how he loved her. That was most important.
She was concerned about that darkness. Memory or not, it would be a problem for her down the road. One thing at a time though.
A few minutes later there was a knock at the door. She opened it. There stood the young woman who had been on the balcony. She introduced herself as Sapphire.
“How is she?” She asked.
“It’s too soon to tell yet, but I think she’ll be okay.”
It wasn’t long before Ann opened her eyes. She reached up for Andy. He hugged her and then she laid back again. For a moment, Tor thought she had relapsed, but it was only a moment before she opened her eyes again.
There was another knock. Sapphire went to the door. “You can’t come in. They aren’t available right now.”
Someone pushed past her.
“I said, you can’t come in, leave,” Sapphire insisted.
They ignored her. Three humans and a very unhappy looking elf entered the room.
“Where are they?” One of the humans asked. The elf, seeing Ann, knelt by the bed. “You’re not here for her,” a human said.
“I am now. You can wait,” the elf growled.
“She’ll be okay,” Tor told him. He’d brushed against Tor as he knelt. He was a healer too.
Andy stood clutching the bag. “You bloody vultures get out. We weren’t even supposed to be back until tomorrow. You can wait a few hours.”
Sapphire hurried to the door and admitted Pt’this before he knocked. She whispered to him, and his face grew dark. “What in the shades of night is going on here?” He demanded, entering the room.
“We’ve come for the proof the princess has upheld the law. She’s led a questionable life, and it is imperative that this is investigated immediately.”
Pt’this growled. “Andy? You have it?”
“It’s not leaving my sight. I don’t trust them. But I can’t leave Ann yet.”
Pt’this knew the boy was right. They would find a way to get rid of the proof.
He pulled him aside. “Would you trust Nim with it?” He asked softly. Andy nodded.
He turned to the nobles. “Since this is a matter of a question of if a treaty has been broken, the Dragon High Council needs to have a representative present. Their emissary is in my rooms. I will get him. You will remain here until we return. If you leave before such time, it will be considered that the treaty is broken. Do I make myself clear?” They nodded.

Power machinations, very old and difficult to eradicate. Great story and illustration. Well done, RP!
Politics and intrigue in a fantasy realm isn't any more moral than it is in reality... Another wonderful chapter.
good one never heard what in the shades of night before
