Description

After our walk in the redwoods last weekend, we headed for the coast (a very short ride away) & found a small beach near Brookings with some very unique & beautiful driftwood pieces. We gathered a few smaller pieces that we took home with us, but this is a portion of a larger one that we saw there... Please zoom.

I'm skipping again, as I want to get to pieces across time, if I can...This is a big cataclysm, close up, like a rock wall that heated up and drooped down to the ground. Love the shadows and the patterns. A very active complex shot, with some major caves and caverns on the bottom. In reality, probably smaller than it appears; but here, it looks monumental. Fine work, Claude; and the other driftwood abstract is complex and beautiful too (and yes, the sand adds another layer of texture). (Nature should offer physical things the way Photoshop offers filters: You can move a slider, and sand will drop on a piece of driftwood. And we can choose the thickness of grain, luminance, frequency, etc. Well, that idea isn't thrilling, but I shared it. The big problem with it is that we'd have to be sure that our manipulations of nature don't effect our neighbors. You wanna avoid a neighbor yelling, "hey! my living room is drooping! stop with the filtering!")
