Description

Did you miss me? ;-) What, I was gone? :-P Spot the differences! Not the best quality photos in the world, but you get the gist. This is the "art" project that I've been doing on and off (mostly on) for the past few months. I made a New Year's Resolution to avoid getting pulled into doing renders until this was finished. Well, it's all finished except the window, but it's still too cold to have the window sitting open all day. That's a project for a later time. This room was my little experiment in where exactly to draw the line for what counts as overkill. There were some things I did that didn't really help, and I learned one important thing: thou shalt not apply a power sander to latex paint. The only thing I really don't know quite what to do about is trying to paint the baseboard trim where it comes in contact with the carpet (without pulling up the carpet). I taped off the carpet but the trim still looks bad right at the edge. Does anyone have any suggestions on this? At any rate, it has been a horrible few months for me, for many reasons, none related to painting. All I can say is that it is definitely behind us now. So anyway, the next near-term project is TAX RETURNS! And I have no shortage of other things that need done. But, I've been good for long enough - I want to fiddle around with the computer now. To everyone out there: Happy Easter, Passover, and April!

do you still have your old blinds? if so, slide the slats between the baseboard and carpet, then go ahead and paint. After the paint has dried (in this case, give it 24 to 48 hours, just to be sure) use a sharp knife, X-acto and score the line between the baseboard and the slat and carefully slide the slat out. you will have a very professional look to the job. I used this trick when I cleaned and painted apartments. Good luck!

Wow, that is a good idea! I was about to throw the blinds away but I'll try doing that next time. Thanks for the advice!

Hmmm... let's see. You've polished the chandelier. You've power sanded the ceiling. You've painted the carpet, you've.... aw, gee! Did I get something wrong here? Must be T.Rex meddling with my keyboard as I try writing. Sheesh! I bet it's because he misses you and Didi as much as I do! I've heard of the same method of painting base boards as that suggested by Faemike55. May I say the room looks great? Next project for me, too, is tax return. Glad to see you back. Hope you can get a few posts in between other projects. I've sure missed you and the Hillville "gang". Looking forwards to more "Keep up the good work" posts! Have a Happy Easter! Here, we've had April Fools today - light snow! :-)

Thanks! And, uh, despite my best efforts, I did manage to paint the carpet a tiny bit. I then had to give it a little haircut... Hopefully not too noticeable!
