I love books, and this makes them appear as the magical, beautiful things they are to me. Wonderful work.

My My... When 3D CG starts to exemplify reality, it gets a bit scary. I smiled when my browser displayed this. How much time did you spend?? Nice effort.

I do appreciate very much all your comments. I wrestled for a long time with trying to create adequate CG representations of books (my day-time job is in the rare book business) but nothing ever really worked to my satisfaction. Then one Saturday morning I sat down and things came together with this image -- maybe I learned from all my previous bad mistakes. The exact UV mapping of the modified scans was the real tough part. I keep it as wallpaper on the laptop I take to book trade shows, and the automatic assumption on the part of people who see it is that it's a photo.

The textures are amazing. What a wonderfully sensual image; I can feel the imprinted ridges, smell the musty old book scent, visualize the magic hidden within the ornate covers. Art at its finest when it touches the viewers thirst for knowledge and sparks the imagination.

I saw your dancers, and decided immediately to visit your gallery. And I am far from disappointed. That I decided to comment here, and give the excellent ranking to your entire uploaded oeuvre, is because I immediately heard Yeats' verse "and ancient Ireland knew it all" when I saw this. I envy you these books (grin. I'm also happy they are with someone who loves them.). They are beautiful on screen, like they must be nearly sacred to touch in reality. Bizarre is -there is no hazard- that I just found a second-hand copy of "A Vision" this afternoon...
