Description
Pa, why is it raining again?
Honey, God knew the garden needed it.
Pa, why do I have to go to school tomorrow?
Honey, the world can be hard, so you need to be
smart to deal with it.
Pa, why do people have to be mean?
Honey, some people just like being mean.
Pa, why are they mean to animals and little kids?
Honey, they are bullies. They only pick on something
that can't fight back.
Pa, why won't someone stop them?
Honey, that's why you need to go to school and be smart.
So you can find a way to stop them when you grow up.
Pa, will you be here when I grow up?
I hope so honey, I sure hope so.
This is my Pa. I do still have him today. He is the smartest person I have ever met. Pa doesn't have much to say, but when he does, it is always worth listening to. I remember sitting on this front porch with him just as l did today. It would rain and we would talk about every thing. He was always so patient with my endless questions. Pa is the person in my life that always believes in me no matter what. He has never made me feel like I couldn't do something. Pa encouraged me to try anything. Sometimes we ended up in trouble, but we were in trouble together so it was ok.
I went home today. It was wonderful.

Thanks for sharing this. A good, old fashioned American. Few in words, but full of words of wisdom. Something I miss here, and that I've missed most of my life (my dad was rarely home, and was a typically city person). I can just feel the atmosphere on that porch, the sound of the pouring rain and its pattering on the roof, the cool breeze. The occasional bird call. Mmmm.... what city dwellers miss in both silent contemplation of nature and the wisdom that comes with it. You're very fortunate to have your father still with you. I think this is more what God had in mind when He created life - still and peaceful, appreciating the creation and all its myriad small (and large) parts. Have you noticed the enormous upswing in insect photographs here at Renderosity? It's really surprised me, and I've come to appreciate the intricacies of these little creatures. Keep up the good work! :-)

Awesome capture and tale of your day with Pa, sounds like he is the greatest. My Ma was that way and I will always miss her here some 21 years later. Never knew my Pa he pasted away when I was three years old in an automobile accident. Your Pa sounds like a friend of mine's father I met long ago who was a kind and gentle hearted man like my MA and I really enjoyed hearing your story, brings back memories of long ago, thanks for sharing!
