Description

Each year we get in kidnapped fawns. A fawn weighs about 4 pounds when born. It has no scent. Mom nurses it, tucks it away and leaves it. Her scent would draw predators that the fawn is not big enough to run from. The fawn does not develop scent until it is large enough to run and then will follow after mom. When people find these tiny babies, they will insist that the baby is too small to be left alone. Often they will take the fawn no matter what I tell them. Did I ever say how stupid people can be? Well if I have not, I will say it now. I have decided that EVEN DUCT TAPE WON'T FIX STUPID. Any way, this little doe was kidnapped. She was kept for a week before they called me again. They wanted to make sure I did not try to put her back........ She will have to be raised in a pen for the next few months, and we will hope for the best when she is released. She will not have mom around to teach and direct her. For the record, I had a very "nice" talk with the people.......... IT WAS ALL ABOUT DUCT TAPE

actually there is a cure for stupid people but!!!! it will get you talked about and perhaps even shunned by 'Right thinking' people. wonderful photo (I was going to say wonderful capture, but in this case, there is nothing wonderful about this type of capture)

Unbelievable how stupid. Nature has it's way with each type of animal. Yes, fawns are cute, but LEAVE THEM ALONE! I can just imagine how this little one feels without its mother - scared, abandoned. And mother, who has lost her baby. SHEESH! Well meaning idiocy. Misplaced do-goodism. Very beautiful photo of this sad little one. I wonder how such traumas affect their future lives? I also wonder - it has a lot of depressions in its nose arranged in a specific symmetrical pattern. Any idea what this may be? Sure doesn't look like pores for hairs. And an anecdote - 1967 we were in Yosemite Valley for a few days. One evening a doe came through the "camp" we were staying in. Her little one came to my brother who offered it some soft grass. Then doe came and got some grass, too. (My brother has always attracted animals for some reason). You should have seen the tourists photographing away until doe had had enough and disappeared into the woods with fawn. My brother was beaming with joy. :-)

Your brother was blessed to have this moment. It seems that as time goes on people respect life less. Now that deer and fawn would be putting their life in danger if they got that used to people. These days most people don't have any idea when to back off and let an animal be. This causes many to be destroyed for the safety of people. Yes this is backwards. I wish people could just watch, have a short interaction, NOT WITH BEARS, and then let the znimals go its way.

Poor baby. We have a saying that the only thing greater than God's mercy is human stupidity. QED.
