Thought I'd try a B&W, Along lines of Classic Detective films...
Not exactly what I'd hoped, May try a different Period, or setting, Any suggestions? Maybe a Higher class Detective like the Thin man??

Concept is great. Two suggestions. Higher contrast in the lighting and maybe make it a single light source. Two, maybe swing the camera to the right slightly behind the lady to give a slightly more dramatic effect. It's a very nice core image, sometimes it just takes some roving around the set to find what works and what doesn't. Hope to see another version soon and keep it B&W. Sometimes it takes me 30 or 40 or more renderings to get what I want, let's hope you can do it in less (LOL). Good luck.

awesome :-) Personally I love the old Detective movies and novels, like Mickey Spillane. One of the reasons I love the "Dresden Files" novels. if you have never read one it is like harry potter grew up and became Mickey Spillane :-) I agree on the lighting, a single point light at about 125% brightness with a rapid drop-off (about 35 to 40 feet depending on distance it is from the detective, if the light is 20' away use 40' if it is 10' away use 20') like an old cheap lightbulb, I would likely put it at a height of 7 feet centered between the two figures 15 feet away to his right with a drop-off of 35' for starters and go rom there. Gives good strong shadows. Could also put in a light in the window at about 45% with no drop-off to give some sunlight or at 25% for moonlight. You could also put a point light under the lamp at a value of about 75% with a drop-off of about 4 feet to give the desk some light. Overall though it looks great :-)

Ah yes, the Dame in distress and after answers, she's come to the right man, Marv did it in Sin City and I'm sure her can do it for her ! The B&W works well and the tips from Greywolf44 and Mapps should make a re-visit worthwhile. Cheers~
