Its very nice, especially for your first Volumetric image. Good ground texture too. The only thing I would do is change the colour of the beams, to make them slightly brighter, but thats just my own personal taste. The tree roots look good. Were they done using the "buggy" plant editor ?

Looks cool Alfons. The volume light is not that difficult once you know how to get the results. Once you know the tricks you can get wonderfull pictures using the volume light. A bit more color in the light beams would make it a bit wormer overall. Capt. Morgan. the plant editor seems to be working better in version 3.2, give it a try. It is still no production tool, but you can get some nice results.

Nice image Alfons. The volumetric light-effect is not 'overdone' and looks realistic to me. Besides changing the colour of the beams, you can also combine it with experiments on the colour of the sky (reddish, yellow, other, dusk/dawm ?) and trying to keep it realistic too, it always gives whole different atmospheres.

Saw your gallery Scott and i must say i really like your "bryce/poser renders. Gareth, there is a pineroot in plants20.obd but the roots were to straid so i modified them with the plant editor, i had some crashes but it can be done. Erik you are right about the colours so my next image uses more warm colours in the sky. Thanks all for your respons.
