Description

It's funny how commonplace objects can take on a totally different countenance when you look at them from a different angle. This, for example, is the eastern most light beacon on the Lawrence Avenue bridge over the Chicago River. But, as I leaned in low to take its picture, it suddenly seemed to tower over me like some glowing Art Deco space monster from Planet Zecklorf. Or perhaps I've been watching too many sci-fi movies. I wasn't originally intending to take a two month break from posting on Renderosity, but things have been pretty crazy/busy lately...Anyway, I'm going to attempt to get back to posting/commenting soon; "attempt" being the operative word here. And, as always, a big thank you to all who are kind enough to view and comment on my gallery. Photographed in the Albany Park area of Chicago on April 14, 2012.

I don't know if I should admit this, but this image has given me a rather intense Star Trek moment. It's a far more elegant version of that obelisk thingie that actually turned out to be an asteroid repeller thingie set up on a planet filled with...get this...Native Americans! Ah...classic Star Trek!...only this is better since there's no 1960s-style overacting in it. I AM a fan of the Shatnerian school of dramatic presentation, however! Oh, and in terms of this photo, it's spot-on perfect. I love blue hour photography and this shot is a perfect example of why.

That is an awesome shot, it really does look like an alien ship landing, doesn't it? Beautiful job on capturing it, this kind of shot isn't easy to make look this good!
