Description
Hi Dad,
Just a quick message about what we did today. As you know things are a little different here on the other side of the Galaxy. Unlike home, our planet rotates at one day to every 6 back there on Earth. Ed and I had a day off and decided to climb up on the hill to watch the sunrise which lasts for over 8 hrs. We looked back towards the city and watched it emerge from the darkness.I don't know but you really get to appreciate seeing the sun after a long night. The sky was so beautiful and I could see for miles.......

That is a wonderful image and I like the writing it illustrates, too. On the latter, I would point out that if they have Earth-like vegetation (which they may not) the maximum length of day in order for Earth plants and animals to survive would be four days. That's assuming, of course, that the planet is in an orbit from its star that keeps its average surface temperature the same as Earth's. Your planet could be far enough away that six days might work, but the down side is that far out, the Earth plants would likely not survive the intense cold of the night. Of course, you may care less about any of the above (and I wouldn't blame you either! Heh!)
