Description

I know that I post to many alligator photos but I am so fascinated by them and I live in a place where alligators are all around us. They are a way of life in this area of south Florida. I once read that only cockroaches have walked the face of the earth longer than alligators. They are truly prehistoric. We live near the Loxahatchee National Wildlife refuge (221 square miles, 257 species of birds and huge alligators). The Wakodahatchee Wetlands are within walking distance but smaller alligators. This guy is about 12 feet (3.7 meters) long and impossible to estimate the weight. Not to worry, this was shot out the car window. An older photo taken with my old Minolta. If you dare zoom, check out the claws Thanks for stopping by, taking a look and for all your previous favs and comments. They are very much appreciated. Dana

Superb capture of this Gator, excellent details in zoom! You wouldn't want to get that close in person. ;D I figured out why you have so many gator's down there and we have so few here in nothern Florida. We have something here you don't have, thier only known natural predators... Rednecks! ;D
