I am an environmental scientist. A large part of my career has been dedicated to scientific research into the structure of ecosystems and factors that affect them. Quite early on, it became apparent that certain mathematical iterative principles formed geometries that coincided exactly with those found in natural ecosystems. And by ecosystems, I do not mean just plants and animals. The same principles also apply to quantum physics, geology, meteorology and on up to the formation of galaxies. These relationships were championed most publicly by the brilliant mathematician Benoît Mandelbrot, the founder of fractal geometry.
To my mind, the structure of natural ecosystems through application of these iterative processes revealed not only the genius and subtlety of nature but also its incomparable beauty. Â

This is a fascinating looking fractal Stan. Awesome combination of bulbs. I read Carlos Castaneda's works when I was much younger than today. A lot of what he talked about seems if memory serves me right to have been brought about in a cloud caused by peyote a very strong hallucinagenic substance used by the Hopi indians to help them connect with thier spirit guides. The basic ideas he wrote about are still very true even if they were chemically assisted in coming into being. I love this image Stan.
Marvelous and superbly mystical image my friend!!!Bravissimo!:DDD.Regarder Whylma
Fantastice creation.
what a fantasy wonderland here Stan, such amazing work and creativity my friend..
Like a secret garden, a spirit on top, and a little palace down under! RS
Beautiful fractal!
Wonderful image
A wonderful fractal scene with a very mystical feel to it. It looks like a fabulous garden with a sprite appearing amongst all the greenery to give a sense of mystery to the scene. Excellent bulb work.
Very psychedelic themed work, as one would expect from eating certain ritualistic "bulbs", some of which one can be reminded of by elements of the work. The bluish elevation in the back resembles something of an otherworldly priest in robes, perhaps even a spiritual guide of sorts. I do agree that a “Philosophy” or “Metaphysics” option is long overdue, especially given the wonderful visual archetypes one can find in relation to such themes. Well done, as always.
Fantastic image, Stan. Gorgeous colors. Corrie
