Description
Meet Mistress Tansy
Why doesn't she ever smile, you ask. What do you mean? That IS her smile!
Mistress Tansy is not a nice person. She is shrewd and very sharp in her business dealings. It's always "I win; you lose" with her. Still, she does not usually cheat people--well, except for a few who have double-dealt with her--then it is solely a matter of revenge. Such incidents are rare in occurrence. The "businessmen" who deal with her learned a long time ago that cheating Tansy is not a good idea. Such behavior will always come back to bite them.
Her childhood was so horrible that she never consciously thinks about it. All I will say about it is that she was unloved, physically and mentally abused, and survived it badly scarred but mostly intact. Her focus is normally in the present and the future. On the rare occasions when she focuses upon the past, her motivation is revenge for some wrong done to her. She doesn't sweat the small stuff, though. Insults fall off her like arrows glancing off a knight's armor. She's a hard person who is hard to know. Tansy keeps all people at a distance.
Tansy is ruler of her world of docks and shacks. She is usually the sole occupant of it, except for the occasional customer or the crew from a newly arrived ship. There often are more people at Tansy's place during the darkness of night because most of her suppliers are smugglers and many of her customers are folks who want something smuggled out of the country.
She is not evil; she is a survivor--a lone woman struggling in a world dominated by men. She is not dissolute--sweaty, reeking and smelly of body, yes--but not dissolute. Unknown to even herself there is goodness within her. And therein hangs a tale...

Excellent!! She definitely looks like I thought she would! Looking forward to your story..
I'm not quite sure what to say, but being an old Kansas boy I've met some "little old ladies" like her. The only thing missing is a rifle or shotgun. BTW, the ones I met, except one, always wore dresses; about the thing feminine about them. The one that didn't, I had definite doubts about her sexual orientation.
Cool character. And sorry, again there's a line of sight distraction on the middle picture. Look at her boots, and pants. They line up with the carpet and door and make her look almost like a ghost from the waist on down. Unless that was the intent....
I new an old gal like this once. Very sweet person, always willing to sit with visitors and talk. Great image
Well ...she looks mean to me .......
Good for her. Love the story and characterization.
This is cool - I love it when artists include a story or poem with their work!
