I've posted this image twice already .. and deleted it because it looked terrible for me :) .. finally tracked the problem down to Firefox not applying colour management on my new hardware :)
Set up in Poser 7 and transferred to Modo 401 for lighting, shader tree set up and rendering.
This is my first play with the 'Studio Lighting and Illumination Kit' (SLIK, available at Luxology) It takes a little bit of getting used to, but I'm starting to like it a lot. Lights used here are an umberella reflector, for the main illumination, and a spot light, for some back lighting.
I've been trying to use reflection, rather than specular, for skin highlights for some time, but this is the first image I've felt really comfortable with the results. It's also the first time that I have felt that post processing is a choice rather than a necessity. Just a slight shift in the white point and some ambient occlusion layered in using GIPM for this image.
There is still some noticeable nosie in the image, but, with a sub 30 minute rendering time, I'm happy with it overall :)
The model is Marie Elite from DAZ and the hair is Lisbeth's 'Updo'. The pose is a slight modification on one from Danie and marforno's 'Allure' set.

Incredible work, I adore the skin; the blurry reflection approach can definitely be superior. I'm not a Modo user myself, but was cruising the galleries to see what it's capable of (boy do I wish I had an extra $1k to burn, I would definitely pick it up) and just had to stop for a minute to comment how excellent this is.
