Description

This area was an upper elevation area where most of the trees were snapped off and blown down into the valley below. For perspective, I left some people on the left side of this posting. Notice that the mountains in the background were also blown clean. These photos were most likely taken 5 or 6 years after the eruption. Taken over 20 years ago, with a film camera and scanned yesterday. Thanks for stopping by, taking a look and for all your previous comments. They are very much appreciated. Dana

Thankls for the photo. Shows the extent and immense power of the forces of nature unleashed. Good idea with the miniscule humans in the image - gives an even better idea of how small we are in face of such power. Yet, as Michael Crichton wrote in "Jurassic Park" - "Life will find a way." Somehow, some plants survived, and look at the budding green. Thanks for the photos. :)

Holy mackerel, shades of the Tunguska Event, or Tunguska explosion, a powerful blast that occurred not far from the Podkamennaya (Lower Stony) Tunguska River in what is now Krasnoyarsk Krai in Russia, at 0 hours 13 minutes 35 seconds Greenwich Mean Time on June 30, 1908. Source: Wikipedia encyclopedia. Magnificent shot of the aftermath and results of this awesome event, Dana! Matchstick city for sure.
