something about the glass case bothers me. I can't exactly say what, it just doesn;t look anchored somehow, almost like it's floating, but I'm damned if I can say what needs to be done to fix it

That's really outstanding. I like the attention to details. Even the yellowish display case lining has detail to it and looks real.
