Description

This was taken by my son, James. I thought it came out really well and asked if I could post it. He said sure. It has been cropped, re-sized and the contrast very slightly altered. Thanks for viewing and for previous comments and favs.

Wonderful image, especially on ZOOM. Love the light thru the bees.

I don't often think of bees as being vaguely translucent and yet the one in the middle has wonderful light shining through her abdomen, and it's probably slightly distended from the nectar (or human-made nectar) she's enjoying. The bees are so well arranged--proof that social insects possess a superior sense of "stage presence" and aren't as apt to flutter around and move out of shot. Great color and clarity too! I really like this!

It is a nice capture Lucinda and I can see why you asked him to post it. It seems he inherited his Mom's talent with a camera :)

I'm glad someone else has bees visiting their sugar water too. At the moment the bees are outnumbering the birds at my station but as it is mid summer down here I guess I have to expect that. A lovely capture.

Sparkingly stellar capture of the backlighting, refractions and shadows in this shot, Lucinda! There must have been something very sweet and tempting at the base of the glass or vase to attract the little critters, who seem to be besides themselves trying to get in for a taste.

James is a very excellent photographer perhaps he will pose his own photos soon. Mark it right that middle guy glows with honey perhaps. Wonderful view of a bee's life.
