Description

I shot this one on the way to town today. You can find a few of these old post offices scattered in the hills here, in various states of decomposition. When I was a kid in Tennessee, I remember going into ones like this. The postmaster always knew not only the names of all his customers, but the names of their kids. I suppose it’s the natural order of things, but I can’t help thinking it’s a shame that new generations are losing things they are not even aware of.

Same great memories from rural Ohio where I grew-up... and they call what we have today at the prices we pay for postage progress! Great shot - great memories.

It feels like home...a place where you don't just grow up...you live. Outstanding shot.

What a wonderful place. I would have some fun with this one in Photoshop, but I also love this untouched version. Is Ula Kentucky anywhere near the Cumberland Falls area? I try to get up there on occasion, my goal is to get a moon bow of Cumberland Falls but so far I haven't been up there on the right night. I is supposedly one of only a few places in the world where you can see that happen. Did you get much snow last night, it is beautiful here today. And VERY cold... woke up to 9 degrees.

Like you these older people knew these kids granparents names aunts uncle's even their family history....... I think old buildings like this should be preserved but who am I just a person who think it would be nice to keep a building like this preserved for others... there aren't many of these places around This is a fav with me:0 Love this shot and thank you for the nice site mail Hugs Susan~
