Description

In August of 1997 many of my family were at my aunt's in Minden, Louisiana having been to a family reunion nearby. Her next door neighbor's cat had kittens that were ready for adoption. My sister decided that one of her daughter's could have one. So we all ambled over to the neighbor's house to watch her pick one out. I knew this was a dangerous move, but kittens are an irresistible force. They were in the back yard and to get to them we had to go single file through a hallway. When I came out to the outside, my sister's two daughters each had a kitten and my 10 year old son held the last kitten and looked up at me beseechingly. So Pepper joined the household. Pepper likes to suckle. He usually suckles his own wrist, but will suckle the fur of any other cat that lets him. My cat Manny likes to bath other cats. When we first brought Pepper home, he was on my lap and Manny jumped up and immediately began to bath Pepper. Pepper latched on to Manny's fur and began to suckle. Manny was not overly fond of this but didn't want to stop bathing Pepper. They made a wonderful duet, Pepper with the trilling purr of a kitten and a rather loud suckle and Manny trying to lick and growl at the same time. It's one of my favorite auditory memories. BTW both of my sister's daughters went home with their own kitten that day. I reinstalled PS. It's still a little wonky, but at least it's not cutting itself off every 5 seconds. Pepper looks like a fierce hunter, hiding in the jungle grasses ready to pounce. It's amazing to me how much cats look like and act just like the big cats. I could watch them for hours. Makes me miss my kitty, Pepper looks very much like her. Beautiful story and picture.

Fabulous shot! Very clear & crisp. Pepper is a beautiful cat! Love the story too! Amazing how kittens have a way of not letting you pass w/out picking them up. And of course once you pick them up, they go home with you!
