Brilliant image, and so true. I took the time to read the bill online (4 hours). If senior citizens, (I am 62) need life saving treatment we can forget it. We will be sent home to die. This affects everyone. We need health care reform...but this cruel and expensive bill is not it. Cudos to you for having the guts to post this image and message..you will be attacked here.

Well put! as for my feelings, I think Tommy3D said it well. I pay for my own heath insurance, and I struggle to do that. It means I have to do without a lot of things. But I'd rather have that struggle and know that the healthcare I'll recieve is quality healthcare, then to ration healthcare and drop it's quality.

I read the bill also. It's got some really disturbing stuff in it. I encourage discussion on this. That's why I left the comments on. People need to talk this thing out. -Pg 29 lines 4-16: your health care will be rationed. -Pg 42: The Health Choices Commissioner will choose your HC Benefits for you. -Pg 58: Government will have real-time access to individual's finances and a National ID Healthcard will be issued! (Read that one again if you were one of the people screaming about The Patriot Act.) -Pg 59 lines 21-24: Government will have direct access to your bank accts for election funds transfer. -Pg 72 Lines 8-14: Government will create an HC Exchange to bring private HC plans under Government control. (I thought we were supposed to be able to keep our private insurance) -PG 85 Line 7 : AARP members, your Health care WILL be rationed. -Pg 124 lines 24-25: No company can sue Government on price fixing. -Pg 170 Lines 1-3 : Any NONRESIDENT Alien is exempt from individual taxes. -Pg 195: -officers & employees of HC Admin (the GOVERNMENT) will have access to ALL Americans' finances and personal records. -Pg 317-318 lines 21-25,1-3 :PROHIBITION on expansion — Government will mandate hospitals cannot expand. -Pg 354 Sec 1177: Government will RESTRICT enrollment of Special needs people. And concerning your life: -Pg 425 Lines 22-25, 426 Lines 1-3 Government provides approved list of end of life resources, guiding you in how to die. -Pg 427 Lines 15-24 Government mandates program for orders for end of life. The Government has a say in how your life ends. -Pg 429 Lines 10-12 "advanced care consultation" may include an ORDER for end of life plans. AN ORDER from the Government to end a life! This, my friends, is the great plan of compassion from our government. Whatever you political ideology, you should be able to agree that this is a major step backwards.

This whole bill is disturbing and sickening. And that's probably the nicest way I can put it.

It seems to work fine in many other countries, and I've heard many stories from Canadians who are angry that their health care system is being criticized unfairly by our politicians. Sorry, but I wouldn't take that list at face value; it sounds a bit like more cherry-picking from FOX News to me.

It's all up there in black and white. It's wasn't cherry picked by Fox News. I pulled it straight out of the 1,000+ page bill they're proposing, including the pages and lines so you can see it yourself. I've got a lot more where that came from. The U.S. currently produces 49% of the world's new medicines, medical technologies, and medical procedures. To put it another way, it takes the entire rest of the world combined just to match our medical output. Not only do our own citizens rely on free-market privatized medical system, the rest of the world does too. It doesn't work better than our current system, that's my point. NHS is a HUGE step backwards. Consider this: 14: The percentage of all patients in Britain who wait more than one (1) year to receive treatment after a referral by a general practitioner. HALF of all National Health Care patients in Britain wait between 18 and 52 weeks for treatment. 60: Average cancer survival rate (all types) for patients in the United States. Canada’s survival rate is significantly lower at 55%, while Europe’s is a dismal 48%. 81: Average percentage of those who survive a diagnosis of prostate cancer in the United States versus 43% in Britain under their NHS. 90: Number of days, on average, each Canadian patient must wait for an MRI under the Canadian government-run health care system. 750: The estimated number of people waiting in line at Britain’s Bury Office attempting to register for simple dental care. 443,849: The number of British patients of the NHS who waited four or more weeks for inpatient admittance into a hospital in May of 2009 (that's more than 75% of all patients). 1,500,000: The number of Canadians who do not have — and cannot find — a general practitioner/primary care physician due to shortages in medical staff. Citizens of other countries are told stories by their politicians about how great their system is and how we have people here in the U.S. dying in the streets, so I don't put a lot of stock in stories an anecdotes. I'm going by the facts. Research this, folks.

Replace the second paragraph in that picture with "Watching your son die of a completely treatable form of skin cancer because he doesn't have health insurance" and you have an accurate picture of our current system.

Except that under this bill someone with a son who has skin cancer is considered too high of a cost risk for the government to shuck out for, so he gets to go home and die because he's off the list. I'll reference you back to this: 60: Average cancer survival rate (all types) for patients in the United States. Canada’s survival rate is significantly lower at 55%, while Europe’s is a dismal 48%. 50% of the time it's America that comes up with the cure for that skin cancer in the first place, because we privately pay for the research. The government can't afford to. There's noting compassionate about bringing out medical progress to a screeching halt. That screws everyone. "Free health care" is a myth. "Free health care" that approaches anywhere near the high level of medical expertise we enjoy now is an impossibility.

Just so we are on the same page, is this HR 3200? I'm going through it now, but so far as to the ID card that is the same thing private insurance companies do. Like I said I'm just starting to look it over. Thanks for the bookmarks. I'm on Social Security now, so the government already has access to my bank account for direct deposit.

I made this for the very first original version of the bill. It's been re-written several times, so I doubt many of those page numbers will now be accurate. The changes are too long to list here. Some of the parts that make it easy for illegal aliens to get coverage on the taxpayer's dime were removed. They removed it within 24 hours of someone shouting "You lie" at the President. So they struck it out, said "It's not in there!", and then quietly added back in a few weeks later after the furor died down. But as an added bonus, if this newest Baucus version passes we'll literally be able to get our government medical insurance at the DMV. That's not a joke. It's in there now. Here's the kicker - the Congressional Budget Office estimates that it would be cheaper to just buy health insurance plans for people who don't have it than it would be to turn this bill into law and hand it over to the government.
