Helix3d is me, Russ Colwell and my wife Christina. The name was derived from my fascination with the Helix Nebula (The Eye of God). I've been working in digital art for about 10 years. I have about 30 years experience as a welder/metalsmith and I also enjoy photography. My wife Christina has been doing mixed media art since childhood. This is a (rebirth) of my original gallery here. In addition to some landscape photography, I love to model spacecraft. I have had alot less time to work in my sci fi genre since we began to work on a business building custom metal, glass, tile, stone, wood, concrete, and what ever else we can come up with in the way of materials, furniture and accessories for the home. We love doing mosaics. But I have found a deep longing within me to take some of my very spare time and start modeling spacecraft again. I see a space ship in my minds eye and I want to make it fly.
We live in the shadow of the Wasatch Mountains of Utah, and travel often to the beautyful deserts and canyons.

Excellent work, as usual. The only thing worse then losing a project because of being forced to reformat your drive, is losing TONS of projects because of it. That's when you find yourself holding the computer above your head, aiming for the open window, when you suddenly realize that you won't get your projects back from what will be useless debri scattered on the ground. :)

Your models are always so well-detailed, incredibly well-designed, and your background is superb. This is a fantastic render!

No offence but, I am somewhat perplex, why are you showing the same pictures that you have already posted in the past? Do you have any new work?

Another great image. I guess I would echo Bambam131's poser about the reposts. But heck, it's great to see this all over again. Re the lost work, if you're a really constipated type like me, you'll have three or four backup drives to avoid this kind of thing. One backup's often enough, however. Sorry to hear that you have to reformat and do all that nasty stuff.
