Description

Nikon 7900 pocket camera - hand held image. I thought I would post 2 images that illustrate the advantage of getting as close as possible to my subjects. The bottom image was taken while I was standing about 6 foot from this male Blue dasher. These guys are about 1 1/2" long. I held my camera at arms length and snapped a shot. I then moved forward about 2 foot and knelt down. By extended my arm again, I was able to get the camera lens within about 1 foot of the Dragonfly. If he had been a bit closer to the shoreline, I would have taken the shoot at about 4". With my pocket camera, it sure helps to get close, lol. Thanks to those who take the time to comment. Lee

You´re right, but getting closer with pocket camera is a little easier as getting close with a SLR-Cam where you couldn´t use the display to focus the object. Great shots and a fine explanation. THUMBS UP

Aren't Dragonflies wonderful creatures? Nice shots, even at a distance.

I know all about that with my similar camera! As Praep says, at least we can see what we're looking at!

Its hard to imagine that you do so incredibly well to get so much clarity with the pocket hand held camera. Bravo! Excellent demonstration!

I know exactly what you describe here, Lee and I fully approve ! The first shot, showing the dragonfly in its natural environment is nice anyway ! Have a good day ! smileys-gif-1104.gif

I would be quite happy with the distant shot Lee, it will happen one day, or so I keep telling myself. I will be back to where I got the damselfly on Friday, to have another look around the area. Both are extremely good shots but also a good demonstration, I am in agreement that closer is better, but first you have to find the subject.Lol. If our English ones were a bit more colourful like yours, they might be easier to spot. Excellent work. Bravo!!!!!

I have to agree, closer is better, but reality, you take what you can get or you may end up with nothing at all. ;o) Beautiful captures. Bunny

Great comparison shot to illustrate your point, it was well worth the effort for that extra stretch. :)
