Description

This dedication is for Bakapo or better known as Barb and it was such a pleasure to do. Not just because I am finally over the flu. lol But because Barb is such a sweet and dear friend of mine and I was looking forward to this. Barb is so talented and can do so much from amazing Fractals that stop you in your tracks to wonderfully touching images in Daz Studio. Still I think a talent many of you don't know about is her ability to write stories and to express her ideas in such a elegant way that it literally draws you into them like your a part of it. This gift of her's really helped out when it came to doing this dedication for her. She described this scene that involved her Father Ed and then she told me that the reason this meant so much to her is because her Dad died 13 years ago this month. ( I have not included a lot of Dad's in my gallery and that is my fault, and something only my friend Jean-Luc probably understands why ) But Ed is one Dad I want to do my best for because of what a wonderful job he did in raising Barb. I'll use some lines from Barb's message to me so you can see her skill at writing. My Day With My Daddy ( For Bakapo ) One of my favorite childhood memories was sitting in the backyard under our big maple tree with my Dad and my fluffy tiger cat named Muffy. It was a warm summer day, the kind of day that makes you feel lazy and slow. We sat in a couple of Adirondack lawn chairs, my feet couldn't even touch the ground the chairs were so big. We had some pale-green mind-flavored candy called mint juleps, ( I don't even think they make them anymore ), and we sat there chatting and laughing all afternoon eating chewy candy after chewy candy till the bowl was empty.... then we didn't want dinner, much to Mom's displeasure. In my mind I saw Barb reaching for another candy from her Dad. I tried to capture this special moment Barb described with her Dad Ed and only hope that I have done decent for her and him. The only thing I might say is to those Dad's out there, and please hear me out. Don't put things like work or running around with your friends in front of your kids because that time you miss out with them is something you can never get back. If you have a little girl like Barb or a little boy try making time for them like Ed did for Barb. Trust me you will be leaving a impression on your child that they will never forget. you've done it again! such a lovely, touching scene...all the expressions are perfect and even the cat seems to be enjoying the moment--though it's really missing out on that tasty little morsel hanging out on top of the chair, LOL...

Ohhhh...this is so sweet. My dad would have had the White Sox game on, reading a book, listening to the radio and drinking a Hams all at the same time. No time for me. I think Barb is very lucky for these memories and you did such a beautiful job of bringing the moment to life.

And would you look at the bird! A great detail, it's the little things you add that make your pics so wonderful! Your message is a great one, too many parents just don't give the most precious gifts of all to their children, time and love.

Good grief what is the green stuff they are eating? My Dad was also really lousy at making anything that would be described as eatable. My siblings and I always lived in fear of my mother getting sick because then it would fall to my father to 'cook' meals for us. Have you ever heard of Slumgully? By the way, that is so typical of a domestic house cat. Sound asleep in spite of the fact that a perfectly good meal has all the hubris to perch itself within striking distance.

Sounds like your father was like mine. Not very sociable. He paid the bills and wasn't mean, but always in his own private world, never sharing ours. (my Brother and self) My late wife couldn't have kids, but we loved kids. So my place became the local kid-sitter den of the neighborhood. We always lived in apts. and the neighbors were glad to lose their kids for the day, either for some peace or to get some work done. We typically had 4 to 8 kids at anytime, from 5 to 12 yrs old. Lots of toys, fun things to do and occasional field trips with parental permission.. zoo, park, mountains, beach, Disneyland, etc. Some great memories and this image helped to spark many of those. Bravo David, on a great Render, Dedi and Theme. Best wishes from Dave :^)
