Description
At one time the owner of this home owned thousands of acres of land. This was before the civil war.
It was sitting high on a hill and he could over look the valley where I now live.
This was taken with a STi/400D with a 400MM lens. The house is about 1/2 mile away from where I stood to take the photo. :)
Over cast day so I didnt think the photo would turn out any good.
Critic for my pic and how to improve taking photos is very welcome. :)

How sad to see this grand old house is dispair...an awful ending unless someone comes along to throw in a lot of money to fix it. You've captured it beautifully here Iloco ~ Bravo!!

I saw houses just like this when I toured Civil War sites in the south. This must have been a beautiful home when it was new. If only walls could talk! Nice shot!

A sad but appealing shot. Even a few years ago this house would have been an attractive project, although I'd be a bit concerned about the tall mast on the left. Bye-bye conventional tv and wireless internet perhaps, depending on what the mast's carrying. Nice work iloco.

That mast you see belongs to comcast cable company. It has a relay on top tosend signal to another place. I would try and get closer to the house but the old lady who owns it is kind of weird and don't want anyone on her land..:( Before her husband passed away they had one of the biggest moonshine stills in the basement of the old house. They use a small tanker truck to make the delieverys to places that had placed orders. :) This took plce back in the 70's and our local sheirff was getting kick backs from the owner to look the other way. :)

Lots of places of this type in MD and southern PA. Seems when grampa and gramma die the kids sellthe land to plant townhouses leaving the old homestead surrounded by ... well. Let's just say the ambience has changed. The empty land around this place is fascinating. If the house were restored, it would be quite a place to have. Even with the tower nearby. Great capture.

I get depressed when I see such a fine house in this condition. When this old walls could talk about the things happen inside for decades... What a fine place for a big family with a group of children... Save this house, please. 5+

So sad to see houses like this knowing that years ago someone treasured this house. There are a lot of houses like this one here in GA.
