This is a baby raccoon I adopted for a month or two before my dad made me give him to someone else. He was found in the backyard of a family friend who felt really bad for him after seeing him alone for a couple days, when at the time he was only about half the size as in the pic. It wasnt long before me and him were best pals, but unfortunatly I had a job, and he was pretty high maintenance. Too much so for my dad to take care of during the day, so I gave him to my friend's mom who was thrilled. Anyways, I got this pic of him and thought it came out pretty well. After having him and studying up to take care of him, and working at a park where I came into contact with raccoons nearly every evening, I can honestly say that people have a misconstrued image of them. Theyre fiesty and whatnot, but just give them the room they deserve. And rangers have told me that rabies are blown WAY out of proportion, as its an extremely rare disease, and not once in any recorded case has treatment failed... The summer days that I laid in the hammock and he slept on top of me always make me smile when I remember back to em.
