Description

Inquisition is broadly used, to refer to things related to judgment of heresy. But today, heresy can be without a religious context as the holding of ideas that are in fundamental disagreement with the status quo in any practice and branch of knowledge. And that works for arts too. Well, this is my tribute to all art heretics.

Yep! you said it perfect brother!! Heresy has not been an religious related only judgement for a long time. In modern society it is mostly found in political and social circles, it is just normally called by other names! And heresy in the art world is also very true...it's commonly known as ridicule. I really love this deep style of art that you do...always have something to ponder about!!!

I find this a fascinating image. Such strong contrasts - Her pose is so simple and natural, the figures behind her dynamic, active somewhat contorted. She is in calm perhaps heavenly colors and they are in warm earthy (perhaps hellish) colors. The title indicates she is being judged for what she did or what she is.. but although she seems to accept the judgment calmly, there is an element of defiant in her pose and expression, as if saying "Well, that's who I am, and that's how I'm staying. What can you do about that". Although she is so different from the figures behind her, she seems to prefer to be with them (on the other side of the brown frame) than to accept the inquisitors point of view..as it should be, in the religious context or any other.

Wonderful. The lighting contrast between her and them says a lot and is very well done. Their classical poses (for example, the left arm of the left guy really has a very classical touch to it) are very well achieved. Great image. They are accusing her, surrounding her but she seems completely unaffected, serene, completely certain of her own believes, no matter what.

wonderful, interesting imagery...the ghost-like lighting, and the masses in turmoil while this lovely, holy lady seems completely above the fray...heresy to me means speaking the truth against the powers that be, who would rather you follow/believe them like a brain dead lambs...

"Heretics usually do not define their own beliefs as heretical. Heresy is a value judgement and the expression of a view from within an established belief system." Well, who cares about the system... Follow your heart and your own way. Great image - and thanks for sharing thoughts and making us think about this.

Esta imagen tiene una belleza que me apasiona y me fascina. ¿Será el Muguet que lleva en las manos...? No, solo es una pequeña parte de esta delicada y magnífica obra de arte!
