Description

Incident at Eridania As soon as the new space propulsion system was developed the leaders of Earth wasted no time in their plan to harness the abundant and precious resources of a "backwards" planet. By their reasoning it was a win-win situation; they would greatly boost their own economy while bringing economic prosperity and moral values to uncivilized, godless creatures. After their sensible plan was met with resistance, they refused to take 'no' for an answer and decided to further motivate the natives. But the Earthmen made two miscalculations: They didn't take the Eridania guardian seriously, and they didn't know the guardian had intimate knowledge of human history. The following day, just before his resignation, the fleet admiral tried his best to ignore the brutally piercing question: which part of 'NO WAR MACHINES ALLOWED IN THIS STAR SYSTEM' did you not understand? Bryce, Paint shopPro 9, a few parts modeled in XSI.

Poor Ronnie, his namesake just lost its big guns. ;'] Great render and concept. The light and explosion are particularly well done, though I would like to see the beem origination point a little better on the Eridania guardian's ship.

The beam origination point is actually at the outer rim edge from one of four small, concealed "holes".

Great smooth render. The explosion is almost there. Needs more of a fireball effect. A giant ball of fire. Or maybe it is just me.

Contrary to Hollywood directors, not every explosion is a fireball. A compressed gas explosion would have no fire at all; a dynamite explosion could have very little fire; an antimatter explosion would be just a blue flash that vaporizes everything; an electron decharging beam would simply turn matter into a cloud of atomic dust; a force field explosion would just blow everything out with no fire. Now if a gasoline truck exploded, that would be a fireball.

A fitting end to any ship by that name. Love the work.

Isn't it sorta "war-like" to be blasting another ship? I mean, why do they get weapons but not us? Cool pic though.

It does sort of sound like a paradox, right? Or perhaps not... If I have a gun to protect my flock of sheep does that give you the right to come into my farm with your gun and possibly kill all my sheep? Also, why can't you, as a visitor, bring a gun to a school... or to a courtroom? It's deep logic, but the logic is there.

I think the Eridanians would be perfectly accepting for the Terrans to have war machines in the Terran system for the purpose of defense, but clearly they have no business here, as the Eridanians are able to protect themselves. Fantastic image!

So the Eridanians say no War Machines allowed, yet they have one? How Hypocritical, LOL And How did they know this was a combat ship, was there any external gun positions. Did we say Hey we got tons of guns on this ship, we are a Warship? Seems pretty paranoid to me.
