Description

My first Black Widow Siting! Not a great shot but it's as close as I dared get to it as I'm a big spider chicken - kjpweb's spider shot is amazing - look in my favorites for a view of his spectacular capture!

My only advice would be ......... don't annoy them! Dangerous and pretty freaky looking huh? kind of hard to mistake their shape, which is a good thing I guess. Cool shot!!

Actually Black Widows are over rated as their poison is concerned. (Like Turantulas) It's the Brown Recluse (Violin Spider) that is truly lethal very lethal here in the states.(Their poison attacks the nervous system directly) And yes , Black Widows are horrible web designers lol:) Cheers!

Oh yes the wonderful Brown Recluse... a friend of mine was bit by one at my home on the north coast and it quickly started attacking his body... luckily he survived the ordeal with little damage. And yes it is very interesting indeed as to the black widow's "looks" As soon as I saw it fly out with my broom stroke while sweeping dead leaves from the doorway to the "Under the house space" I shouted to my mate "IS THIS ONE OF THOSE!?" LOL - hard to mistake them for anything else.
