I need help!
This picture, and 20 others, were taken somewhere in Europe during the 1950's by my stepfather. He has since passed away and they are all I have left from his passing.
I would love to know where some of these pictures where taken. If you have any idea or know someone who knows, could you share the information here? Much appreciation :)

I assume that the one image is of the Leaning Tower of Pizza (it is Pizza isn't it?) but I'm not sure of the others. Maybe the soldier on horseback is in London?

What magical pictures Nancy!!! You are right it is the Leaning Power of Pisa and I think I have identified the following: 3 Tower Bridge, London 9 Post Hotel Vienna 11 Pisa 15 London - could be Buckingham Palace Guard. 18 Tower Bridge London. Good luck with the rest. Think 19 could be Sienna Italy and 21 Amsterdam but am not sure. Wonderful memories.

London possibly Buckingham Palace. 16)Carcassonne. 17)London. 21) Maybe Amsterdam. As I say I am not positive about Carcassonne but it looks like it to me.

oops, if I had read furthur I would have seen where to find the other pics. I have been to England and France in 1985, I will go through my photos to see if I can find some familiar pics.

I have no idea where they are, other than the obvious ones, but what Cool pictures! The ones of the castle ruins really make me want to go do something 3d. lol! And the detail of the architecture on the cathedral in #20 is amazing!! I agree with Eric, this is fun!

Wonderful capture, no idea about this, it could be Germany with kinda reddish sandstone, but hard to determine.

Very sad story...I have checked all 20, after looking through the "Knaurs Kultur fuehrer" and found nothing, but the number plate in "4" a large "L" which could stand for the town of Luebeck in Germany & "9" is somewhere in Germany "Hotel Post"...good luck Nancy. ~Cheers~ :o)

Number 3 and 18 are the Tower bridge in London. Number 4 has to be somewhere in England because the wheel is on the right side of the car. I can't help with the others... unless you pay me a tour across all Europe! 8-) Good luck with the search. I'm sure some member or other has to know some of those places.

Sorry to hear about your stepdad, Nancy. I think I recognise this place - that's Carcassonne. I've never been there but it's famous for the pink/reddish colour of its city wall. Strange thing to look at Paris in the 50s on your website :)

Hi, picture 19 is "Santa Maria del Fiore", the cathedral of Firenze (Florence). It's the door on the left of the main portal and in the foreground you see the baptistry. Picture 20 is also Florence, the church of "Santa Maria Novella". Number 6 also looks like some typical marble in Florence (white, dark green to black ). It looks more like late seventies or early eighties to me (cars, cloths), also I could be wrong, because the Italians where always much more stylish and modern (cars, cloths ;-) than here in middle europe, where I was a child in this days. It's definitely not Windsor Castle....too small, apart from anything. Also, Windsor Castle doesn't have shops/a pub inside (as can be seen across the bridge in the photo), and here in the UK, we don't use any signs like the "20t" sign; I was brought up in Germany in the 60s and think it looks German.
