Description

This is not very interesting subject matter but it's one of my first tests at some of Blender's rendering capabilities. Specifically radiosity in this one. There are also some subtle procedural textures on all the objects and some very light ambient occlusion - hardly noticeable. It looks like Blender is capable of some nice results. There are some problems that showed up here. I need to work through a few things to get better results before I can render some more interesting scenes. I definitely intend to explore Blender further in the future, when I've got more time. It's pretty amazing considering it's open source software.

You do have high standards...! It looks pretty good to me. The more I use Blender the more it bowls me over. Looking forward to seeing more from you.

Yes. I reckon there is no point in using these extremely high priced apps anymore. Blender is a bit weak on modeling tools but the rest is OK. You look at it's incredible development and realize that it is set to overtake high end programs. Free app on a rendering farm. Free OS if you use Linux. How can that be beat? I'm impressed with Blender's radiosity. Procedural textures are pretty powerful. Ambient occlusion is not so great but that's a very new feature. There are no lamps in this scene by the way. That should give you a clue as to how radiosity can now be used in Blender if you don't already know.
