The Via Appia was one of the longest and most important roads of the roman empire. Huge legions could be moved quickly because of the roads' good condition.In times of war, the Via Appia was the decisive advantage for the roman army.

As I pictured it, although I expected the legionaires, while uniform, to appear a little more individually varied in appearance and some of their equipment. Enjoyable scene, for one who has spent a little time wandering around Italy. I know a lot of work and time went into this.
Nice work. I agree about making the legionaires a little more varied, which you could do in Photoshop. Still good though.
