Haven't done Sci-Fi before so a new departure for me.
Rendered in Bryce 5 with some postwork in Coral Photopaint 12.

The ship seems to have killed the power in the city below. I hope the residents saw 'Independence Day' Time to run?
Nicely put together Dennis, good choice of colour too - lends a nice slightly surreal effect of heat to it.
