I'm curious about the SDS modeler in C2...I am going to get C2...no matter what, but I'd like to see a SDS tutorial or walkthrough. Any chance? Brian

OK, I have C2 and I don't know the term SDS modeler.... What is it? C2 has, as far as I know, the Spline Modeler, the Vertex Modeler, the Metaball Modeler, the Text Modeler, and the basic primatives modeler. What am I missing? - Dex

I think he means Subdivision surface

Wow! Dex, you're two modelers up on me. I didn't actually consider the text modeler to be a modeler. I also didn't know about the basic primitives modeler. Very interesting. I'm a little fuzzy about what the SDS modeler is as well. If it's the spline modeler, all of my tutorials in the backroom use it and several of the tutorials on litsts page employ it showing significant details. Let us know what the SDS modeler is and we'll send a lifeline. I've decided to teach a class on Carrara. The class will be five sessions, two hours long. The materials I'm going to present in the class will be for people who have ZERO 3D experience. It will cover the use of Carrara on a very primitive level. I'm intending on selling my materials which will consist of a suite of Carrara files, some web pages, and a set of pdf powerpoint presentations. I'll probably sell it for around $25.00. The first class I'm going to teach will be the guinea pigs so the final product should be pretty good (I hope anyway!). I've already to committed to starting the classes at the end of November so it IS going to happen. -Kixsupercool.gif

Yes subdivision surfaces. Really I just want to see the production of a model at various stages to see how it all works. Brian

Litst did a brief discussion here on the subdivision function right before they released C2. Maybe you can search for that one if it's still here.

O.K. I think this is what you are looking for. I was going to do some screen captures but I didn't have time. But basically what you are look at is the same model with different settings in the Sub slider. The higher the more smooth it gets, but it will tax your computer more too. I like the setting of 3 (It goes from 0-5) since I get good soothing without taxing my computer too much.
