Subject: Has anyone used Photoshop CS3 Extended in conjunction with Lightwave 9.2?

I have asked this same question over in the Lightwave forum.  It's very appropriate here, too.

I am considering upgrading to PS CS3 Extended.  I am curious as to whether or not anyone here has tried CS3E's 3D-layer import capabilities specifically with reference to LW 9.2.  And if so, what sort of results you've seen.

Thanks.

Re-post from the Lightwave forum:

Operaguy has posted a helpful link concerning this matter in the Poser forum.  Thanks, Operaguy.

It looks like Newtek is planning on making use of Photoshop CS3 Extended's capabilities.

you were probably aware that cs3e doesn't import lwo files. is there a "reload texture" button in lightwave?

I'll have to check.  I am a relative newbie in LW, so I am not familiar with each aspect.  However -- Newtek's plans to create such a plug-in as this already answers my question for me nicely.

Currently, I have PS CS -- and I felt that it was time to upgrade.  My choice lay between CS3 and CS3E.  So my initial post in this thread was an attempt to track down more data about what CS3E could and could not do in relation to LW.  The posted article has pretty much cleared up the basics of that question for me.  And I now know that CS3E is the way to go.

BTW - I'm aware of some people who use ZBrush and LW in combination.  But I don't have ZBrush -- so I'm not sure about everything that ZB can do, texture-wise, especially vis-a-vis CS3E.  Perhaps at some future point I'll need to consider adding ZBrush to my toolbox.
