THE PLACE FOR ALL THINGS BRYCE - GOT A PROBLEM? YOU'VE COME TO THE RIGHT PLACE

Subject: No longer Borked

I got my computer back today, with a brand spanking new power supply (bigger and with an extra fan), plus new thermal paste on the CPU as an added bonus.  The really good news is that while my SATA drive wouldn't work on their test rig, it boots fine in windows on my computer.

So no data loss for me, and I have a better power supply out of it.

Yay!

(hopefully not literally!)

Not quite smoking, but a new layer of thermal paste only lowered the temperature by a few degrees (probably getting hotter now that the cat uses the top of the computer as a bed...)

Yeah we can probably blame cat for everything from really bad fugues to world wars. Why shouldn't a cat be responsible for computers overheating to??

Too thick a layer of paste will cause problems as well. It's function is purely to ensure no airgaps when the heat sink  is against the chip.
LOL bikermouse do we detect an anti-kitty sentiment there? (grin)

Pass no temptation lightly by, for one never knows when it may pass again!

Absolutely ! Whadya want from a mouse ? the neighborhood birds and squirrels are absolutely up in arms regarding Kat as well  . . . . All said and done she's ok for a cat  - the birds don't give me no more trouble no how!.
