I think it's a ripoff of the Matrix, with a completely ridiculous main character and a more classic premise. I could be wrong, it's happened before (I thought Alone in the Dark would be good, and, well, enough said), but I don't think so...

Apparently, the comics on which it is based first came out in the early 80's http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/V_for_Vendetta Some of the artwork looks quite nice: http://www.shadowgalaxy.net/Vendetta/images/gallery/cover_10.jpg Bit dated, now though Garry

Considering the Matrix is a rip Robert, that's funny. Take a look at "Ghost in the Shell" Manga flick;) the opening scene with green digits resembles the opening in Ghost in the Shell. During the opening scene in which (The union of the Father and Son and Holy Ghost in one Godhead) Trinity flees the Agents, the shot of the Agent landing on the roof is almost identical to a shot of Kusanagi during the pursuit of the first 'puppet'.

Well, the Matrix gets a lot of stuff from a lot of different movies (like "Terminator", for instance). So what we have here then is a ripoff of a ripoff. =) But if you watch the trailer, there are several scenes in this movie that are taken directly from the Matrix (like the guy in the dark cloak walking, seeing the feet, and such). Also if you read the trivia on IMDB, the Bros were working on a movie based off this same comic book, but left that project to do the Matrix. This could be why some scenes are similar (the director of "V" was also involved in directing the Matrix, actually). But you must admit, from watching this preview the movie doesn't exactly appear to be as original as the Godfather. =)

GITS II - Innocence, basically jawdropping animation and GCI, but you have to know the GITS-world and characters because to movie drops you in deep water without introducing the main characters. Music by Kenji Kawai GITS SAC (Stand Alone Complex), the tv-series is more like the manga, with a lot of the orginal black humor, satire and sarcasm, i still have to finish that one, starting with DVD 4 this weekend. Music by Yoko Kanno o/ Still have to see the new Appleseed movie, the old version was rather p...

The new Appleseed is gorgeous, story is not bad but could have used a trifle more time - felt a little rushed in spots. Much better than the first verion in any aspect though. GITS SAC vol 7 is available now on DVD. Got it ordered through Amazon.

Pass no temptation lightly by, for one never knows when it may pass again!
