Did you have the template lines in the bump? The distortion might be from compression artifacts. I would try a fresh save at higher contrast, used at a lower setting. Just an idea.

Thanks anton guess we cross posted lol but i think my problem is that my textures are not defined using real photos and also the texture strengths were two diff numbers so the figure looks exactly the same with or without a bumpmap >.o better start practicing with real ppl fotos might get a better result..just dont want a plastic looking character yanno..

ok here's a new character i did, Denade and i'd dearly love to apply a bump map to her and mat pose edit the settings i vary to get different results and they all look horrid..here's two pics, one ofa rendered figure with the bump map applied and one with the settings in the mat room manually applying the bump map.. Can someone help me and describe in better detail what im doing wrong?? and what settings are best.. ty ty ty ahead of time
