Good News on the Windows 10 front! I rang Microsoft today and explained the problem with Windows updating and restarting while I am rendering. They understood my situation and said if they could remote access my computer they could turn off the updates and I can load them when I want to! I allowed them to do this and they also did it on my second computer. Also Outlook 365 updates which I also have needs to be turned off. So we will see how it goes! They save an admin key in the all Programs and when you want to install updates you right click on this item and you can continue to reinstall the updates. Cheers

I would like this to be something I do on my own. I would do is just pull the plug on my Ethernet jack and only plug internet access in windows 10 when I need to. I only have Win10 on my gaming computer so I only turn this computer on when I have time to game. Not too often.

If they so easily do it when one calls them, why can't they do it for everyone without having to call? Still don't want 10 ;).

"Hello, Microsoft? Can I have your permission to install updates when I want to on my own machine please?" Nooooo thank you. Maybe if Microsoft buys my computers from now on ;).

They do it that way because if you call and go through with it, they get remote access to your computer. Access that will be logged and stored by MS. But if you Googly it you can get the solution that way too and without MS's grubby hands on your system. :-)

You can just go into the Control Panel, ---> Administrative tools ---> Services -----> WIndows Update -----> Right Click on it to open properties -----> Change startup type to disabled.

Restart your computer and you will never be bothered by a windows update again, of course your system security and operating system will be rather quickly outdated so I wouldn't recommend this as a permanent solution.
