Just playing with ray traced depth-of-field and environmentals. Straight from Carrara.

Not worth it??? How long did it take to render. Smooth antialiasing and DOF. BTW I wish Vue could make pictures like that.

Looks good Mark.

How long did it take to render?

I have been leaving DOF alone in Carrara because I always seem to get punished with extremely slow renders.

The render took about two hours with a setting of Good for anti-aliasing, caustics, Improved edges, Global Illumination and Indirect lighting.

One thing I noticed that has never been apparent to me before is that you can get away with a lower anti-aliasing setting when using Ray Traced DOF. When I did another test with antialiasing set as Fast, the render was 20 percent faster but looked the same.

Howie Farkes' scenes are with low antialiasing by default. If you render them right out of the box they still look fine.
