Subject: Error preventing opening Carrara file

restif ( ) posted Tue, 01 April 2014 at 6:56 PM · edited Tue, 30 June 2026 at 2:35 AM

I have had this now on 2 computers, the same error. I'll work on a scene, go back to it a day or so later and it can't open it. Not every scene does this happen to but some.

This is the first time in so many years that I've had any such problem, and I am concerned it is a crap shoot to try to work on a big scene and then not be able to open it again.

it is ' An End of the file error occured when executing open...'

Has anyone seen this before?

is it compressed file?

if so change the suffix from car to zip and unzip it with 7zip

then rename to a car file again and open it in carrara

could work

good luck

Thanks for the idea. No it isn't a compressed file. Did change the name just to see if there was some problem with syntax but no luck.

hmm that's bad luck,

I used to have An End of the file error occured when executing open problems if I left a hanging texture in the shader room, ie I would select texture in a shader parameter but then not put one in. i think tyhey fixed that bug but maybe it is related ...

cheers

Thanks for the info. I'll still see what I can do.
