Subject: Who's tried conforming hair to Vicki 2 in Poser 7?

I thought so. Just me, then. :-)

It's odd, but it doesn't always work, depending on the hair. Of the conforming hairs that I've tried, only Kozaburo seems to have the secret - others, including the Flo Hair that I made, and hair from Jim Burton and 3D Universe, fly down to the region of Vicki's abdomen when they're conformed.

It's fine in Poser 6, but fails in Poser 7 - that's the latest version I have, but if anyone feels inclined to try it in P8 or one of the Poser Pros please do.

It applies to V2 and Stephanie 1, at least. I thought it might be to do with the fact that they have an extra neck actor which doesn't appear in the hair's CR2 - but then I found that Koz's hair is fine, and his is apparently rigged the same way. Obviously there must be some difference, and I'll see if I can find what it is. Meantime, if you want to use Flo Hair with V2 in P7, parent it rather than conforming it.

Check the center and end points of the body and head.

Best guess will be that the body centers will be out but if the head end point is incorrect that can throw it off also, but not by the same amount.

Poser 7 (and later?) need it all to match up. In Poser 6 one got away with it.

Hmm, I haven't tried it yet, but I'm going to be downloading Vicky 2 Low-Res sometime in the next week. I'll try putting hair on her and report back 😄

Darn, I was too late to edit my last post!

So I just remembered that I had Stephanie 1 Low-Res in my runtime, and I tried conforming the Flo hair to her (and promptly ended up with Hair-In-Stomach syndrome just like EnglishBob did). I took the figure and hair into the setup room and noticed what looks like a discrepancy in their bone structures (circled in red in my composite image below):

I'm not a rigging expert by any means, but it looks a little off to me. Is this what PhilC was talking about?

Oh, and by the way, nice hair! I'll have to experiment with it on a couple other figures.

V2 had an upper and lower neck group which will make a difference.

This is decidedly odd. I found that the endpoints in the head and neck weren't exactly the same as the target figure (no idea why, now) - and neither were the orientation values. I corrected them both and it worked... I even had a corrected CR2 ready for download.

Then I thought I might do a quick render to show everyone how clever I was. Vicki got a hairball again, and it hasn't worked since.

Ok, back to the drawing board. :-(

I've got one of those (orange-hair on girl on homepage) but no idea how he did it.
it wasn't koz.  hair sort of sticks on the head and shoulder, even with bends.

Miss N, I'm not following your drift...

I outright stole Koz's rig for this try, only swapping the Flo geometries, morphs and textures into the Kyoko Mk.3 hair CR2. At least it stayed on her head, but it still isn't quite right. She has a bald patch. I have no idea if that's preferable to a hairball. :)

Edit to add picture, and to note that Koz's endpoints don't always match V2's either. I'm going for a lie down.
