This forum is dedicated to the Blacksmith3D product line which includes...

Blacksmith3D - Morph allows you to EASILY morph 3D objects. (Formerly Extreme Morph 3D)

Blacksmith3D - Paint is a true 3D Paint program that allows you to paint textures DIRECTLY on your objects.

Blacksmith3D - Suite allows your to both morph and paint your objects in the same program!

Things you should do in this forum...

  • Ask questions about the software and how it is used.
  • Request new features for the software
  • Report bugs and other problems, as long as you provide enough information (do not say... "I tried the software and it didn't work right")
  • Post renderings of work that you created using the Blacksmith3D product line.
  • etc.

Things you should not do in this forum

  • Stray too far from the topic of the Blacksmith3D product line
  • Post unconstructive criticisms like "this program sucks." (without telling us why it sucks)
  • Report bugs without providing enough information for the bug to be located and fixed. Please be as specific as possible.

All in all, let us work together to make the Blacksmith3D product line as great as possible.

Great to see you have the forum Konan :) I have just downloaded the demo, and am having some problems.. I downloaded the 5MB file, and installed it {running XP Home} 2.3GHz intel celeron prosessor, 256 MB ram, 64 Mb Extreme graphics video. I try to run the program {any of the three} and just get the splash background, and a small window on the bottom left corner of the screen informing me that the save and export features are disabled. Cant get anything else up..in fact, in order to even get the screen to minimize, or even to 'start new project' I have to ctrl+alt+delete...then it will minimize and upon clicking on 'ok' to start new project, I get the splash screen again.. Any ideas? Is this program compatible with all versions of XP? Thanks :)

Heya, Thank you for posting this message. Most likely, this problem is due to a conflict with your video card. Please see... http://www.blacksmith3d.com/blacksmith3d_opengl.htm HOWEVER, I am comitted to getting Blacksmith3D up and running on as many systems as possible. Just so we can be sure that it is indeed a conflict with your video card, please disable video acceleration in Windows and try again. Note that the painting feature WILL NOT WORK without video acceleration. Just see if you can import an object and do a few morphs. Please use a low polygon model to test it out, since it will be quite slow with the acceleration disabled. If it indeed works OK with the video card disabled, then we can narrow our focus. Please let me know the results of this test. Konan

Here is an image cap I did of it, so you can see what Im seeing..I cant get inside the proggy at all :)

Also tried using the other version there at the downloads page..version 1.0.0.7 Got the same problem :( That image above is all I see. I know my grapics drivers are all up to date..but you could be right and it just might be that my graphics card just isnt compatible..which is a bummer...

Hmmm. This is interesting. So, if you click on "File", nothing happens? It is possible that a background program may be interfering with the software. Another user reported that Norton Anti-Virus caused Blacksmith3D (and a few other OpenGL programs) to behave erratically. I will post a special "debug" version of "Blacksmith3D-Suite" that will generate extended information. in the "data" folder, a file called "stdout.txt" file will be generated. So this is what you will can do (if you are willing of course)... 1) Download the special debug version (link to be provided soon) 2) Copy the new EXE into the Blacksmith3D folder 3) Run the new EXE 4) Attempt to load an object by clicking on the "file" menu 5) If nothing happens, terminate the process 6) Immediately send me the stdout.txt file before running the program again. I'll post the link in a few minutes, Konan

Hey jumpstartme2,

Please download the EXE's found at the attached link and copy them into the "Blacksmith3D-Suite" folder, copying over the old ones. As soon as you encounter the problem, close the program and send me the stdout.txt file via email and I'll have a look at it.

Konan Also, please be very precise as to what the problem is. Tell me exactly what happens, and include screen captures if that will help. Konan

Actually, I can click on 'file' and can choose 'new project' but that is all..it asks me {behind the splash screen..have to close that down to see it} if I am sure I want to start a new project..I click 'yes' and Im back to the splash screen again... Will do as you instructed..get back to you as soon as I can :) Thanks for taking the time to help :)

jumpstartme2, have you tried to import anything? file>import other than message window not dropping behind splash screen I get the same but the system still works.

EricofSD ( ) posted Tue, 02 November 2004 at 8:30 PM

Well, I took a look at the website and the software looks interesting. I did not see a price and I looked around for one. Now before you say I'm blind, keep one thing in mind... if I can't find a price in 60 seconds or less I move on to other things.

Jaqui ( ) posted Tue, 02 November 2004 at 8:52 PM

Eric, I think it is in beta so it's free.

EricofSD ( ) posted Tue, 02 November 2004 at 9:34 PM

Nope, it is not a beta or free :( Click on the Purchase link to get a price list. Blacksmith3D - Morph is $69.95 Blacksmith3D - Paint is $69.95 Blacksmith3D - Suite is $99.95 You can download the demo and test it out to see if it suits your needs. You just can't save or export files. Konan

Yeah, I got the txt file, but now that I know that it wasn't really a bug (just confusion with how the splash screen works). Currently, if there are no objects loaded, then you get the splash screen. Perhaps I may rethink that. Sorry about the confusion, Konan

Ohhhh, okies thanks! :) Yea, you might want to think about that tho..even tho you might want things to be totally different with your program {I know I would ;)} most people are used to the splashscreen disappearing after a few moments, and being presented with the work area. Good program tho..far as I can tell..got to play with it a bit more now that I know whats going on ~lol~ Thanks tho for being so attentive ;) It means alot to people.
